00I. full name Shere Khan
0II. canon or original Jungle Cubs
III. years of age In feline terms, about 14
0IV. gender M
00V. orientation(optional) Unknown yet
0VI. occupation Guest
0I. body type muscular - for a cub, at least
0II. physical description Shere Khan’s most evident physical trait is, of course, his distinctive orange pelt with its black stripes. His belly, paws, muzzle and cheeks are a greyish/white shade, and he also has yellow eyes. He looks a relatively well-groomed cub, except for one small tuft of ‘hair’ at the top of his head, and can prove to be an intimidating presence – at least to those smaller than himself – especially when his particularly sharp claws come out.
III. height about 2’5”
0IV. weight maybe about 60lbs?
00V. eye color Yellow
0VI. extra Think that’s pretty much everything
00I. overall personality Shere Khan, despite being a cub, likes to give the impression of being a sadist in training, a self-serving feline who is perfectly at ease with his willingness to hurt others for whatever reason, whether for food, to further his reputation, or just for his own amusement, although more often than not, this just makes him come off as a bully. That’s not to say he’s any less dangerous for this, however; Khan can be a smooth talker whose threats are rarely empty, as he has the claws to back them up, and though he does use a show of arrogance to cover any blunders on his part, a passable amount of these boasts carry truth to them. Despite this, however, Khan is still a cub, and is more than capable of laying off (most of) the arrogance when in suits him to hang around with his friends, Bagheera, Louie and the others, although even around them, he is still liable to get nasty when his pride is threatened.
0II. strengths
- Generally able to fend for himself, despite his age
- Not easily intimidated
- Cunning when it suits him
III. weaknesses
- Prideful, enough to lead to his downfall if used against him
- Unwilling to admit to needing help – or needing others in general
- An unreliable ally – while he will work in a group if needs must, he’s more than likely to save his own skin instead of his friends’ when more danger than he can handle comes up
0IV. goals To become ruler of the jungle, feared by all
00I. notable family & friends His mother, who still intimidates him; grandmother, who – despite the damage it could do to his reputation – he still cares for; and the other cubs – Bagheera, Baloo, Louie, Hathi and Kaa – although their status as ‘friends’ is debatable and variable, Kaa, in particular, being more of a minion than a friend.
0II. overall history (For the record, none of this except the show itself is canon; I’m making it up as I go along) Born and raised in the jungle, Shere Khan was brought up by his mother, a bitter and intimidating tigress who kept herself to herself ever since humans had shot her mate, and groomed the young cub to follow in his late father’s pawprints as the scourge of the jungle. What she didn’t count on, however, was Khan growing friendly (in the loosest sense of the term) with some of the other jungle animals after a young Bagheera and Louie saved his life in one of his earliest hunts gone bad. Afraid of his mother’s disapproval, but wanting to actually spend time with cubs his own age, Khan took to pushing his new friends around to preserve the tiger’s pride instilled in him.
After a number of misadventures with the group of cubs, Khan was very surprised to one day find a letter arriving, inviting the recipient to a hotel opening in the city. (In truth, the letter had been addressed to the leader of the nearest man-village, but had been blown into the jungle by the wind.) Showing it to the others in puzzlement, Louie was quick to taunt that the tiger would be too scared of the humans to venture near the place. Not willing to accept the insult to his pride that being afraid of anything, even man, would be, Khan, against his better judgement, set out immediately to prove the orang-utan wrong.
III. sample post”Scared. I don’t think so.” White-furred paws padded on the hallway’s plush carpet, carrying the young tiger through the hotel lobby. “Yeah, I’m at the top of the food chain. Louie doesn’t know what he’s talking about if he thinks I’d be scared,” Khan scoffed. He was alone right now, making the monologue pointless in anything other than keeping his courage up. Because in truth, the cub was afraid of the humans – or at very least, wary. Man-things and animals, as he’d told Bagheera, didn’t mix, and his being here was defying the very laws of nature. Any animal in his right mind would be at least a bit nervous in such an unnatural environment, but as long as he didn’t lose his cool, Shere Khan told himself, he’d be just fine.
Besides, this place was kind of nice. A bit short on prey, admittedly, but there was something in the atmosphere that the tiger cub found strangely soothing. Maybe staying here a couple of nights to prove his lack of fear to Baloo and Louie wouldn’t be so bad. As long as the humans didn’t let their red flower out of the fireplaces – which he kept a very safe distance from -, what could really go wrong?
“Yeah, that’s right. I’m not scared.” This time, Khan actually believed himself. Man had no place in the jungle, but if he could prove that he could get by in their own environment, the other cubs would be green with envy – except for Kaa, who was green anyway. Pleased with that realisation, the striped feline padded into the dining hall, glancing around at the room, and at the waiters bringing meals to those already seated. “I usually prefer to do my own hunting,” Khan stated, still addressing no-one in particular as he hopped up onto one of the chairs. “But I suppose this will have to do.”
